During a recent (April 13-21, 2006) trip to South Korea, sponsored and organized by the World Kido Federation (WKF) and Hanminjok Hapkido Association (HMJHA), Ian A. Cyrus, Headmaster of the International Chosondo Federation, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a multidisciplinary Korean Martial Arts organization, was promoted to the 9th Dan by Grandmaster Suh In Sun, chairman and president of WKF and HMJHA. Grandmaster Cyrus, is now the second non-korean and the youngest (at age 50) to be promoted to this level in the United States by Grandmaster Suh. Grandmaster Cyrus was also honored with a commendation for his hard work in promoting Korean Martial Arts worldwide.
Grandmaster Cyrus and his student Master John Taube gave a demonstration at the 5th World Hapkido Championships – 2nd Busan Mayor’s Cup, held in Busan, South Korea that was well received by over one thousand competitors and two thousand spectators.
