HapGi Mu Yae Fall Gathering 2025

October 25 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Yu Shin HapGi Mu Yae (Willow Spirit Energy Joining Martial Art)

Information:

The focus of the upcoming Fall Gathering 2025 is to explore the four (4) main aspects of Yu Shin HapGi Mu Yae, aka HapGi Mu Yae. Since HapGi Mu Yae was founded in 1989, the goal was to bring accuracy to the name, “Hapkido” itself, which by most accounts, originated from Daito Ryu Aikijutsu (a sword based art). That said, and in my opinion, the “Aiki” aspect of Hapkido was non-existent. There’s much more to Hapkido than an extensive technical curriculum which is collusive. Historical research, reverse engineering, the study of Taekwondo, many schools of Hapkido, Tai Ji Chuan, Ba Gua Zhang, Kenjutsu, Oriental Medicine, and the Dharma-Vinaya (Buddhism). “Project HapGi Mu Yae” has brought me closer to a true expression of “HapGi (Aiki)”. HapGi Mu Yae is a conceptual, principle, methodology, and strategy-based experience. It is the embodiment of HapGi that gives rise to skills/techniques and not the other way around. HapGi Mu Yae is a project in progress. There are four (4) main aspects of HapGi Mu Yae:

HapGi Bup (Fist Methods/Grappling Arts)

Gum Sool (Sword Arts)

Han UiHag (Oriental Medicine: Jiap Sool Revival Skills)

Martial Arts as a spiritual practice: Dharma-Vinaya as an ethical practice.

Each aspect informs and underpins the other. The goal or aim of HapGi Mu Yae is not to produce martial art masters with rank, but to produce a disciplined, unfettered, completed, and self-actualized human being who serves humanity.

I invite anyone who is interested in joining us in “Project HapGi Mu Yae”. Join us and contribute to the state of the art rather than regurgitating the same outmoded curriculum.
